Default Back Surgery - I'm Down but Not Out

I just had some lower back surgery last Thursday. It seems that I am dreaming up all kinds of projects that I can't physically do yet. The house, cars, Vette, you name it.

I can't drive for six weeks. I had my wife get me out for a cruise yesterday. The restrictions will come to pass in six weeks they say. But getting there is going to be a challenge. There is only so much social media that I can take.

SO MUCH TO GET DONE!

Important part is you got thru it. Now take it easy, relax, recuperate. Get a note pad start coming up with cool ideas.

Ok, we need to come up with a cross between a hospital bed and a creeper. I already got doorgunner wheelchair shopping so he can keep going with his sciatica. I just had both knees replaced...

Haven't seen the video in a while now , but , they have a chair that looks like an office chair and you move a small handle on one side and it drops down to the floor and becomes a creeper and back to a chair !

I'm waiting for the drivable, motorized version to come !

Ok , we've reach our limit of sickness for this month ! If you want to be sick you'll have to wait till everyone else has made a quick recovery or next month !

Hope you guys all recover quickly!

I've had 3 spinal surgeries. I feel for you right now, I know how you feel.

Just stay positive, take it easy, and be serious with rehab when your doctor tells you it's time.

Pins and plate or just bulging disc....? I had surgery for a bulging disc about 7 years ago....I knew when I woke up I was better...Hardest part for me was not over doing it because I felt so much better.

I hope recovery goes well....

Know your pain, get better soon - the rehab is super important - as stated don't cut it short.

Get better soon.

Please learn from my stupidity. Be extremely careful about how you lift something and how much it weighs. I rushed the recuperation and now have a lower back which drew this response from a well known Texas back guru, "wow, your lower back is dog sh--!"
I function now by using ropes-pulleys-block and tackle, fulcrums, inclines, declines, archimedis screws, pry bars and the kindness of neighbors. Best of luck and hopefully no more pain.

I went through this surgery, L4-L5, almost 5 years ago when I was 33. After couple months you will feel like new, but as @radiotexas well said...be extremely careful when lifting stuffs. Be patient and don't rush otherwise you will regret for it...so step by step.

We live very close each other, if you need any help with the car here I am to help you with....don't hesitate to let me know.

Thanks for all of the kind words and advice.

Yes this was an L4,L5 cleanup. No fusion yet but it is definitely in my future.

I had L5-S1 surgery about 20 years ago. I followed the doctors orders, gave up my dirt bike and behaved. Let it heal properly. I started riding off road again 4 years ago (at 60years old) and have no back problems.

The most important thing the surgeon told me was to walk every day, which I did. It’s hard to behave, but try to look forward at your end result.

My wife had a fusion L5-S1 on May 4, 2016. We followed the recovery carefully and today she is back on top of her tennis game. Heal well, recover smartly, see you back on the cars soon.

This forum is about our corvettes. none of us have to drive these beasties to work tomorrow to remain employed. We joke around about finding jobs you can do while lying on your back under the car since you can't stand up, but the reality is our asses are more important than any car to park our asses in for a fun Sunday drive. Take your time, everybody. Get well enough to not eff yourself up cuz you are home bored and the project is out there calling you.

I could see laying under your car with this hoist and accidentally hitting the levers to raise it up and being pinned to the bottom of the car.

Anything possible will happen.
