Hi Lou,
Yes, the 68 cars were pretty special!
I can remember the first one I saw very clearly. A yellow L-79 car.
As incredible as the exterior was I was more smitten by the interior.... at night...the seats, the gauges, and fiber optics.
I was driving a 68 GTO and the new Corvette made me want to throw rocks at it!
Regards,
Alan

I never cared for the look of the C-2's, so when I got home from Vietnam on leave, I could not believe what the 68 Corvettes looked like! Nothing else looked like them! To me they looked like a jet plane with the wings cut off. There were no car magazines in Vietnam. Lou.

So you guys of the age to remember it,

When 68s started hitting the streets were they just like mind blowing to other motorists even like non car enthusiasts,

Sports cars like camaros and mustangs must have looked very boxy then, compaired to the 68 corvette, did it cause much buzz?

Bats, I went from a year in Vietnam to eighteen months in West Germany so I do not know the answer to that. Lou.

Hi,
I was in an Army Reserve unit by the time the 68s started to appear, so was at home.
Actually, it seemed that while the Corvettes turned a lot of heads it was the high horsepower Chevelles and Novas that the vast majority of guys wanted.... and drove.
A 66 L79 Nova was pretty startling on the street.... and a WHOLE LOT less money!
Regards,
Alan
