Hello,
Can anyone that has installed Dewitt radiator please provide feedback on how well it fit? Does dewitt fit good always requiring no modifications?
Thank you,
Greg

Hi,
Which radiator are you looking at?
I have the reproduction aluminum sb 4-speed non a/c radiator and it fits first try.
It's about as nice a reproduction as ANY reproduction part available.
(Probably the only part I can think of that's in the same league are the exhaust tips that Richard Fortier produces.)
Regards,
Alan

It would a 4 speed non ac. What the difference between 4 speed and auto? Is it just the cooling inputs on the autos and the dimensions are exact same? Thanks

As a general rule, AT and factory AC cars got the larger copper/brass radiators.

I have installed 3 in my cars through the years and 1 in my friends.

All 4 were in manual cars, one of them had AC. They fit perfectly without any issues.

If you are ordering a unit with the electric fans, you may have to
slide the fans over a little bit to the left or right to fit, no biggie at all.

I installed a Dewitts radiator in my '81. Not fit issues at all. I later went back and put the dual Spal fan kit on. I had to slide the fans a little over from center to equalize the contral arm spacing.

No issues here.

The only issues with DeWitts fit is when guys order the wrong one for the radiator support they have.

Agree! Pricey but well worth it for the quality and not that much more money.

Just make sure you know what rad support you have and order the right one.

Perfect direct fit on my '71 BB 4 speed. Removed old one with hood off and with radiator support and shroud as one unit. Reassembled with new DeWitts radiator and installed radiator support and shroud as one unit.

This advice was posted by other members, it worked out great and I was able to do it without help.

I bought my 79 L82 M21 with a leaking radiator--among many other issues--so I decided on a DeWitts aluminum radiator. I had them apply their "black ice" coating because I wanted the new radiator to be black--like the original. Five years later that radiator still looks, fits, and cools great. No installation issues, per the shop I had install it for me. The car still has its original engine fan and auxiliary electric fan.

I installed a direct fit in my 71, 4 sp - a/c car.

I had to shim the sway bar 1/8 inch to clear the lower radiator hose.

No big issue - just cut 2 steel plates drilled holes and painted them, then slid them udder the sway bar mounts.

They do work excellent and are very reliable. I ordered mine with the fans installed from the factory.
