Mine is a brand new GM 454 block, stroked. So that is 488 I believe. TKO600 with 3:55 gearing. Am thinking I should have gone with 3:73 gearing.
You may want to look at your gearing. With that OD trans and a 3:08 gear you are going to be cruising at 70 at only 1780 or so RPM. And that is with the close ratio trans. The wide ratio trans will be less than 1500rpm.
The big block will likely pull the gear ok, but a lower gear in the diff might help you a bit. Just my $.02
Should be happy regardless.
That's why I'm going with the close ratio TKO 600 with the .82 final gear which will put my rpm's at 2100 at 70 and I'll be right in with the operating range of my cam (2000-6000 rpm).
That was also my concern with an od automatic as they have a final rear of .7 which would drop my rpm's at 70 to 1700 and too low for the BB
Well almost a year of body work and starting to go through primer, soon to be in paint. Ready for primer Ready for Primer After first coat of primer, still needs lots of sanding. After first coat of primer, still a ways to go. The trash in the primer is fiber glass strands that need to be sanded out and primered over.

Love the color, what is it? Also, base coat clear coat?
Thanks. Yes, it is a colored sealer, with a base/clear on top. Now going through the process of cutting and polishing to get any dust out of the paint. It has been a while since I have done this, It is more work than I remember (or maybe I am getting older). Ugh.
The color is similar to a red found on newer Chrysler products - Jeep Cherokee, etc.
