1969 l71
We have all been looking at this car/auction.
You think it may need a new frame? Make that definite. And this car is not "all there". Not even close. I think the VIN plate in the windshield is gone also. That's a big problem.
What its worth is whatever someone will pay for it at the auction that is ending on it today. I believe the online part closed at $6000. With the 23% buyers premium that's another $1380. That's about what the parts might be worth.
This car can not be restored properly for less than the what it would sell for. If the buyer wants to recoup his money he needs to part it out. There are plenty of other L71 coupes out there for less than what it would take to restore this car and they probably have there original frame.
Look at the other thread related to this car. You will get all the info you need about this pile of parts.

I take it you did not inspect it before placing any bids on it?
Unfortunately I already have a couple of projects like this with even less upside potential!

Nothing ventured, nothing gained! How bad do you want a tri power???
And if the market for these goes up, all the better!

I looked at another project in Baton Rouge awhile back, big block, 454, that had sat out in a field. One thing that struck me besides how they obviously rust, is how the fiberglass also deteriorates. On this one, it was so bad, I thought you could almost stick your finger through the fiberglass. And of course, when open, some pistons are going to get water, so I wonder if you can even salvage the block. Not much left, very sad.

There is potential to make QUITE a bit more than he paid. ALL the parts of a 69 corvette have value if in good enough condition to be rebuilt or cleaned up and undamaged (key point of course).
Here is how I see it with fair prices of parts if rebuildable.
intake manifold....................$1000-1500 if undamaged.
The seats and rails...............$400
The hood............................$500.
Headlight mechanisms..........$400
original seat belts.................$200
original alternator................$500
Possible original distributor....$600
Possible original starter.........$300
Original transmission............$700
Original L71 block................$2000
Original heads maybe............$600
Steering wheel....................$100
Original carburetors.............$400
Horns are probably original...$100
Original rear end.........
Original radiator........
Custom mags........
Front end bracings and brackets
Engine brackets
Expansion tank
Various body panel parts
Side and rear glass
The list goes on such as other interior parts, radio, bezels, gauges, storage tray, kick panels, dash pads, compartment doors, jack etc could be another $500-1000 if there and usable.
People do not realize how much money in parts are in the car when you add up all the little things. Even nuts and bolts with original headmarks will be worth money.
When done over time and the work removing parts this car could be well get over the money paid for it. However, it looks like someone on the forum bought it with the intention of rebuilding it. If he does I think he will soon learn it was a mistake. Hopefully for his sake I'm wrong. But if I'm not, hopefully he will share his experience with those who think its a good idea to do the same thing.......
