Default Custom Shifter Plate

Does anyone make a C3 custom auto shift indicator plate for reversed manual valve bodies?........

A plate like this, but numbered 1-2-3 instead of 3-2-1.

Not that I am aware of...but....it could be easily made.

Go to a graphic company that can make a template like you want in a vinyl that you can apply and PEEL back off..

Apply it to a piece of aluminum that is cut to size and either powder coated, painted or anodized in black.

Apply the template and then media blast the letters and numbers and remove the coating. and then pull off the template and you have what you need.

OR...get a decal made and put it on a piece of aluminum.

This but I would not media blast it. You can etch aluminum very easily with household stuff. Check out this instructables: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-...-Metal-Plaque/

Talk to Mark at http://buickgn.com/ They did a console plate for me when I installed a quarterstick. All he needed was a full scale template. Something like this, send him another plate with the numbers where you want them

Yeah, it looks like I will have to fabricate it or have it custom made/engraved. Thanks, all, for suggestions, and I'll try 3x2's Buick website and search others for recommendations. While I'm at it, I'll check for a custom data console plate, too. The blanks sold by Zip don't have the 4 equal blocks used in the 1969 design.

I'd just order one from Paragon and have them ship it to Mark and have him swap the 1 and 3. Maybe $50???? tops.

Very interesting process...worth looking into this.

But I can simply walk over to my blast cabinet and have it frosted in under a minute. Which is why I mentioned it.

Agreed, and I have done this many times and it came out just fine however I find that the etching gives a lot better definition to the part which is why I suggested it. I have all of those things sitting around my house (but I am something of a mad scientist). If they were not readily available I would absolutely be comfortable just blasting it as you suggested.

I just get my geek on with all science-y type stuff =)

Mine's a B&M plastic insert, but it is reversed. I made my own console cover and fit the indicator window in flush.( With the Megashifter installed)

I considered doing that, with an insert or decal, but I want it to look like factory so I'll probably fabricate the plate, or have it done.

YEAH...I also get into the 'geeky' science-y stuff.

I appreciate you passing along the process. I do like it and the effect that is provides. I did not want you to think I was dismissing it in any way.

Working on some Corvettes that are rather special builds...having this option in my 'tool belt' is good for my customers. Just another option for them to consider.

Default Custom Plates Update

I found a local engraver who made me just what I wanted......well satisfied with his work.....

Shifter Plate.......aluminum like stock......reverse pattern.....

Custom console data plate......laser engraved. I provided a template, and he made the data insert plates.......
