Default Nitwits in the snow

I was watching the local news station this morning. They showed a red C5 that was stuck in the snow. They said he was trying to get to Florida. Look’s like he won’t make it anywhere soon.

They also showed quite a few other performance cars stuck in the snow. Don’t they realize that summer performance tires and white stuff do not mix well.

Not surprising, if the snow had any depth. Wide, smooth tires with low force tire loading makes them easy to slip. Maybe the driver didn't know how to turn ON the traction control system!

Anyway, must be a 'bonehead' if he wanted to go to Florida but waited till it snowed.

A C3 (new at the time) with F70 tires was a bit difficult to manage in snowy/icy conditions for the same reason. But we didn't have ABS and traction control systems, back then. Did it the "old fashioned" way...easy on the gas and easy on the brakes.

Which has more driven wheels a typical pick up truck/suv or a corvette....C2-C3 C4 C5 C6 C7????

A regular pick-up or SUV has an open differential...ONE DRIVEN WHEEL most Corvettes have posi-traction TWO DRIVEN WHEELS.
My old K-5 BLAZER had locking hubs...up to but not always 3 driven wheels, mostly 2.

I had to drive my C-3 in the snow....not to FLA from VT...but enough..

I would rate it....BETTER THAN ANY REGULAR PICK UP/BLAZER/SUBURBAN....(until the snow gets up over the spoiler!)

Yes, I regret doing that....but i never lost it!

I drove my 59 and 60 vettes through all sorts of weather back in the day and only got stuck once on a side road that wasn't plowed very well,I slid off to the side,a quick hand push out and back driving in 5 minutes. I did put snow tires on the 60 though. My present vette(69) has never seen snow.

When I was a kid my friends father drove his 1969 427 corvette every day to work, rain , sleet, hot , snow.
He had studded snow tires in the winter.

THAT is a perfect depiction of insanity. It would have made more sense with the snowmobile in front!

I got one of those nifty 4WD ***** on my F150. I must be getting old and/or weak - I love it. Taking a rear wheel drive anything out in the snow - as we all had to do at some point - just gives me the heebie-jeebies anymore.

Once the snow gets above the front spoiler you are officially driving a snow plow!
