Default Eastwood Brake Tubing Flare tool?

I'm looking at finishing out my brakelines- running the copper-nickel line as it is supposedly as strong as steel, rust proof and easier to work.

However with my flaring tool- older craftsman - doing the double flare is a hit or miss ordeal. I want to just do the lines once with no leaks.

So I am looking around- a lot of junk out there-then some really expensive stuff- the Eastman's one is not bad at $169 on sale- but it to, looks like it's made in China.

Anybody have experience with it- or any others around that kind of money?

As far as I have made it - just the line from the master to the proportioning valve...a lot more lines left!!!

I have one. Best flaring tool I ever had. Perfect flares every time. The only downside is that you can't use it on the car as it needs to be clamped in a vise.

^x2.

I have it and never made a bad flare. But like said you have to use it on the bench. Now I’m looking at a hydraulic flare too that could be used on car. Probably shoulda bought that first might not need this one

Without a doubt, that is the BEST flaring tool I have ever owned!! I even bought the 37* dies as well!!!

As stated, the only downside is it has to be used in a vice. For my on-car jobs, I use the Ridgid 345-DL tool, which is also a very good tool.

You won't be sorry - I had one for what I needed and then eventually sold it to recover some cost

Thanks- will order it-

Duke- thanks for the link.

Bruce & TigerJoe - HA- no problem as ALL my brake lines are on the bench right now!!!

Ignatz- That's what I always tell myself when I buy "the" specialty tool...but I end up keeping it!!!

Eastwood also has one for use on the car. My daughter gave me one for Christmas and although I have not used it, it looks like it would be hard to make a bad flare. I think it was about $39.

Followup edit: I used this tool and it worked great. Made 2 flares, both perfect. Only downside is that it works on 3/16" tubing only.

*******Update***************

OK- first try- perfect...second one perfect...third one perfect!!!

I can't believe how much time I had wasted messing with inferior tools!!!

Only downside-

Eastwood emails...I'm on their list- you know an email every other week or so- for a special or free shipping that would be fine.

BUT they are sending two and three a DAY. Come on guys- Really??

Richard

I agree, it just becomes more daily spam. I finally just unsubscribed to their emails.

I am curious as to what the steering setup is on your car.

Not with eastwoods flaring tool. But I did score a brand new snap-on double flaring tool in Jan. on ebay for $70. Excellent tool.
