Hello, I just purchased a 68 convertible and I was curious if the key warning / buzzer was an option since the ignition is in the dash. I noticed it on a 69 I was looking at but it was on the column of course.

I dont know if it helps but on my 70 its under the left front fender above the wheel
68s do have a key warning buzzer that should operate when the key is in the ignition and the driver door is open. It was standard.
In my experience the buzzers are very touchy. I've owned my 68 15 years and it's never worked once in that time. It's is the only thing I've never gotten to operate correctly. At least on my 69 I could get it to operate occasionally on it own or by jiggling the ignition switch key.

Yes its part of the horn relay. Mine works when I push in on the key. I'm glad its doesnt work all the time becuase its really annoying. Another cool thing you may not know is that your 68 ignition has a light bulb that llights up the key slot. There will be alot of parts you may replace over the years and some venders say 68-72 or something like that. You should investigate about which parts are 68 only like the wiper motor and switches, override switch under the dash, ignition switch, wiper door actuator can, your gauge console ( hard to replace but the top can be repaired)etc...
some parts changed mid year as well so you may need to figure out when your car was made
search the forum, there is a couple of 68 only threads
