Control Arm Experts Weigh In Please
Over the course of time I have accumulated three (3) different style lower control arm cross members and I am wondering if there are any experts out there that know what differences there may be in these.
Three are shown below. Left one has a groove the length of the bar and it is wider. Middle bar is narrower and flat, no groove. Third one on the right is round, not flat, and not as wide as the other two. Even the two hole area and the single hole areas are a bit different.
Which style are you using on your car and what year is your car?
Tell me what you know, and what you think you know.
Thank you for your help.

These were on my 72, AFAIK they are original
A friend has a 63 and I'm pretty sure his are grooved like the first one you show.

Hi,
I believe the 'flat' shaft and the 'I beam' shaft were used interchangeably.
They were both used in Production, and for Service.
The 'I beam' configuration appears to be seen more on mid-year cars than later cars.
Original cars have been seen with one of each configuration.
Regards,
Alan
