Hey all,
The driver's seat of our '69 is in need of repair and I was wondering if there was anyone around the northern VA area, or anywhere outside of the area, that you guys would recommend for repairing or even replacing the vinyl seat. Any leads would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Phil

In an attempt to get your question answered (and bump yer thread!), have you considered doing it yourself?

I had never done it before and it turned out not very difficult and the results were GREAT!

On top of that, I saved a ton of money and get to say "I did that" !

Just a thought.

Definitely give it a go yourself. My buddy and I completely redid his interior when we added an aftermarket AC system to his 69. We had it stripped to the bare floor and walls. It wasn’t too difficult and very rewarding. We are going to do my 70 in the near future. We pulled all of the info on how to off of teh forum and a few other sites.

YOU can DO IT!!

Will def look into that option. As of now, we were looking for a small repair where the seat stitching is pulling apart.

I bet the cost of replacing the seat cover ourselves compared to having someone make a bandaid stitch that would probably need attention later wouldn't be very cost efficient in the end.

I just finished the entire interior in my 69. It started with a small quarter inch tear in the drivers seat bottom. I decided to do both seats including the foam as the foam was original and starting to look like yellow sand coming through the vinyl weave. Pretty easy job. I got the covers, foam, seat installation kit with new wires and hog rings from Wilcox and it wasn't expensive. Figured I might as well do the carpet while the seats were out as it was also original and smelled like it even though it looked ok..

If you just need a small repair, drive by a few auto upholstery repair shops and get some quick estimates. If they are vinyl seats, they can likely repair them without removing the covers.

Any automotive interior shop, possibly even upholsterers, should be able to make that repair for you. The key is having a heavy duty sewing machine.
