Are there 2 different width half shafts for the 63 to 82 cars. I bought a set from a member here and they were 13 1/2 inches. Mine were 15 1/2. And the flanges were different. He said the were from a 66. They should be the same.
80-82 were a different length (IIRC) otherwise the 63-79 were the same length but the diameter changed (75?) from 2.5 to 3, again IIRC, that said I thought it was only a little shorter, like 1/2" or so

15-1/2 doesn't ring any bells, are you measuring center of u-joint to center of u-joint? Just checked and 13 7/8" should be a stock length 63-79 as far as I can tell

I am measuring end to end and it is 15 3/8. They are 13 7/8 from center to center. The ones I got were 2 inches shorter. They looked exactly the same except shorter.

The late models with the aluminum differential had 'lightened' driveshafts as a system with the new fiberglas spring and the alum. diff.
They did that because they didn't need such robust and heavy driveshafts for 'only' 200 hp. Different U joints as well.
