Default 1974 Owners ?

If any of you have a 74 built before November 10th can you tell me if it has the rubber washer hoses or the metal tubes attached to the arms.
Thanks,
Tooch

...I guess my car is a freak. Musta been when they were running out of the '73 style with the metal tubes as the driver's side has the metal tube, passenger side wiper arm has the hoses. Also has the '73 style door weatherstrips with the cut in the middle. Also does not have the coupe door rain gutters at the rear of the door sill. Car is VIN #01950 and was built Sept 11, 1973. Bought May '89, Bloomington Gold Survivor('94, '04, 2015) & NCRS 5 Star Bowtie Award, 51K miles

Hi,
A mismatched pair as Paul describes maybe isn't too unusual???
There's a slight difference in configuration between 70 and 71 grills.
Some early 71 cars have been seen with one of each configuration.
Regards,
Alan

Hi Alan,
I agree, probably more often than not! I'm trying to narrow down as close as possible when the change ocurred.
Thanks,
Tooch

Tooch, been a long time since I've even looked at a '73-'74 Judging Guide. Does it address when the change took place in '73 from the small font VIN to the large font VIN? Another neat thing is that a lot of leather optioned cars came with the vinyl style sunvisors. Mine has them and it's a leather car.

Yes it does as a matter of fact. We are planning to add actual photos showing the difference in font size in the new revision. As for the sun visors. I'm pretty certain that all the 73-74 cars came with the comfort weave vinyl visors in both standard or deluxe interiors. The size of the visors changed in 74 because of the larger rear view mirror.

...the reason I mentioned the visors because in 1996 when the '74s were fairly new to being judged, at the NCRS Carlisle Regional that year I got a full deduct on the vinyl visors and my car has leather interior. One judge even thought in my paint code 80L, the "L" stood for leather.

Is your driver's side paper starting instructions label still on the visor?

Yes and it is NOT the '73 style that was some kind of fiberglass paper/sheeting that was on '73 Corvettes. It is just some kind of lightly laminated paper or like sticker paper-kinda like return address sticker paper in a way.

There is a time built code in the upper right corner of the trim tag.
