Default Ignition shielding

When I bought my 77 all of the shielding had been removed, I have been acquiring pieces over time and since it wasn’t snowing today I went to the garage to see what I have. I think I have the wrong dist cover. What I have seems to small to cover the cap and wires, hopefully one of you guys may know what I have. It has 4 sort of rubber nubs on the top cover which seems to hold some type of inset to the underside of the cover. I figured I would ask here before digging out my aim although I don’t see any part numbers on it. I’ll try to get a pic up shortly

Hi d,
It sounds like you MIGHT be describing the 'one-piece' distributor shield that was used beginning near the end of the 70 model year, (12800), and continued through the 71 & 72 model years.
Regards,
Alan

The 77 cover is larger than the 71 to 74 to cover the larger HEI distributor.

That’s it Alan, awesome picture as usual, well time to find the correct piece, or maybe get a 71 or 2.

The 75-77 top shield is larger, to cover the larger HEI distributor cap, and doesn't use the plastic insulation, or the plastic rivets to retain it.

The 75-77 top shield also uses different top supports, than the earlier top shields.

Well, the OP has not said he has the stock HEI distributor, if so then getting anything but a '75-77 will not work. Don't see why he wants a 71-72 now as he posted later unless he has swapped out the distributor for a non-hei. Unless of course he keeps the shielding he has and swaps out the car. Maybe that's what he means.

It was said in jest, figuring since I already have the part why not get another car.

If my wife was making that decision she would say "keep the shielding and get rid of the car so I can have more room for my gardening stuff (i.e. crap)". Somehow she thinks the garage is hers - what gall.

Ummm.... NO. The garage is for CARS, and cars or car stuff alone. NO bicycles, lawn mowers, shovels, rakes, or other "implements of destruction", or non-car crap. Ken, you need to get this under control quickly!
