Default Steering Column Removal

Hi,

How do I get this lever to move down? I need to remove the bolt behind to remove the mounting plate.
The steering wheel is removed and the column is ready to come out.

Thanks,

Hi Jim,
I believe the key needs to be in the ignition switch and turned to 'on' in order to move the lever down.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan, I got it through the firewall...but now another minor problem.

How are these plugs "unlocked" so I can really be done with this project?

You only have two options.
1) Unplug them.
2) Cut the wires.
I would suggest you go with option 1, easier to put it back together later, don't ask me how I know.
All kidding aside, the plugs are tricky but you can get them out.
You got the hard part done getting to this point, from here on out you will be in good shape.
Good luck with your project.
David

Spread the tabs, they are a very tight fit.

Thanks to all,

I have the column out, now on to getting the brake booster out. Should be fun.
