Thank you both. I will take a look. Strange it was removed. It is a all original car with very low miles. I was cleaning it up to be judged when I noticed it. Thanks again.
I think I found the answer. I looked again in the AIM and did more research. Looks like DUB answered this back in 2014.

The white wire coming off your distributor...that is plugged into the TACH area on your cap...has another white wire that has a brown female connector end on it. This is used for connecting test equipment while working in the enginecompartment so you can see the RPM's when testing and repairing anything that requires watching the RPM's.
I second that , that doesn't go to anything . .. mine isn't connected to anything either but I remembered back in the day working on vettes it was always unplugged ,
