I know I'm going to get a lot of hate for this but could someone give me an explanation of how to ground the radio in a 1980 Vette. Electrical work really isn't my thing and in still decently new at fixing up cars. Thanks! (FYI my speakers are making an annoying static noise and the radio won't power on but I checked the current and i was getting the constant 12V needed so I just figured I had a bad ground.)
If you still have the factory radio...the ground is in the plug that goes in the back of the radio...thus...you do not need to ground it.
NOW...the ground wire in that connector may be broken and thus you may need to repair it.
If my memory serve me correctly there are THREE connectors that plug into the main body of the radio..one is black, one is white and one is blue. These connectors have the wires for the speakers ( front and rear and the needed power and ground for the radio. I believe there is another connector that is for the power antenna. Your wiring diagram can confirm this.
