C3 Frame dent repair tool
does anyone know where i can purchase a used or new frame cross member dent repair tool? I would rather purchase used since we would only use this tool only once. (hopefully)

There is one of his crossmember dent removal tools floating around here among forum members where you just pay the shipping then send it off to the next guy after use. Try a "who has the pay it forward cross member dent removal tool" post.

Hi Rick,
I believe this may be the most recent thread about one of the 'dent' tools.
Mooser made this one and it got passed around a bit.
You might check with Bill to see if he still has it or if it went to someone else.
Regards,
Alan

Followed the link posted by Alan. There are no pictures of the tool. I would like to fabricate my own, if it is possible. Does anyone have a photo of this elusive tool.?

a general description is two curved thick metal plates with a threaded hole in the center. One piece slides into the cross member where the lower control arm is mounted after you remove it and the other piece is on the out side. They are both centered on the hole in the center of the cross member and then a large bolt is inserted through the both of them and tightened acting as a press to force the cross member into the curvature of the two plates.

Hi Ray,
Here's a photo of the tool's parts.
Regards,
Alan
The arched plate has a large nut welded to it and is inserted into the front crossmember.
The 'bridge' is held up against the crossmember and the bolt is threaded into the plate through the hole as MW described.
.
I found it took a good bit of effort and work to get decent results.

I am pretty sure I sent it to someone in New Jersey not that long ago.
It was definitely someone on this forum just cannot remember who.
Kind regards,
Bill

Thanks Norm
It tends to do that (disappear for random lengths of time), I was hoping to get it back eventually
