Hey everyone, awesome to be a part of the forum! I just wanted to see if anyone around the Chicagoland area in here has special places to take their car for any and all work (mechincal, restoration, etc) because I have tried a restoration place....they had the car for 5 weeks and didn't do half the work I wanted after they said it'd be in and out. I work hard and don't like to be taken advantage of. I know the one mechanic at the local auto shop who did my tune up and fixed a few minor things said I need at least a 14" air filter and that will help....but one of the things I've noticed is lately when I'm driving I feel a lot of heat by my feet/legs....but the old owner had a valve shut off to the heating core....so I don't understand why it feels like engine heat by your legs.

Any and all tips would be appreciated, and if you have special places I live by Orland Park so depending on where even Indiana isn't out of the possibilities.

Thanks! A customer of mine recommended jumping on to see where everyone recommends good mechanics in my area and to meet my new family as a new owner!

I had the same problem.......infrared gun showed 135*F where the steering column mounted to the firewall......along with heater core getting hot coolant (no shut-off valve).

I pulled out the interior and am in the process of installing koolmat kit and new carpets. If you don't mind the look you could do a exhaust pipe wrap much easier.

Congratulations and good luck with the new corvette

You might try using Yelp.com
I found this place by you. http://www.rt66autoservice.com/
I've used it many times in Los Angeles with great success and I'm picky.
Find a local Corvette club and ask a few members for referrals.
Buy AIM manual and read it cover to cover learn where the items are that are shown so in the future you'll have a clue when speaking to mechanics or others. You can find one on CorvetteCentral.com
