Adam Boca's (wifes) 1969 Corvette Cosmetic Restoration
Spent the last couple weekends stripping my wife’s 69 Corvette’s interior and just sent her off to paint.
This car was bought by my father in law back in 1980-1981 timeframe. He was 28 when he bought it, and my wife has great memories with him in this car. He gave it to my wife when she was 28, and we will give it to my daughter when she is 28. My wife and I met through this car, my job (National Corvette Museum) and through the Corvette Forum back in 2001.
Below are some pics from the last couple weekends. I have read countless threads about the dash removal, and really appreciate all of the very great advice!
The car left today for its new paint job. While it is gone I have plenty to do.
The next big task for me is to prep and “paint/dye” the dash pads. Wish me luck through this process!
Game On!
Seats, carpet and center console = gone!
Dash is coming out!
Discolored and some black spots on the original dash pad..
Carpet and compartment = gone!
Dash = Check!
Speedo = pain!
All weatherstripping, emblems, gaskets and the car is off to paint..
Just a glimps of the damage to this old paint..
Wife with her Vette...
My wife and daughter saying good byes...
Interior dye, supplies and a spray gun...pray for me!

Nice story, keep us posted, and sure hope you remember how to install the dash, and all the wires, see there marked, but you might of wanted to take pictures has you torn it apart, incase something goes wrong.
Nice ride!
Long story short...Dad bought in '72-3 and drove/raced it through the '90s. He mostly raced NCCC super stock class. He dropped an L88 crate engine in it at some point. I inherited it 5 years ago and have been doing a body off restomod on it since then. Plans are to drive the wheels off of it until it needs a refresh again.

Sprayed a Test Kick Panel (bottom) to see the color. The top is a new replacement Kick Panel. The color was off (more pink), and needed to have more orange,red and black added. The sheen has been toned down as well.
The Body Shop sent this photo of her stripped and paint coming off.

Going back to Monza Red....Yeah, I think the shop was wanting to dive in and see what they were up against. They said it is a slower time for them right now, so hopefully we will get lots of action!

Some progress today...I think I’m working myself up to starting on recovering the seats tomorrow.
Installing the reinforcements in the new parking brake console.
Old shifter plate reused with a new console.
First round of cleaning on the dash pad upper and lower. Tackled first with SEM Soap and then Simple Green. Most likely will repeat this process one more time to make sure that it is good and clean. Used Scotch Brite Grey pads.
Any advice to recovering the headrests? I have new foam and vinyl.

Seat #1 = almost done! What a pain this is! Waiting on seat bumpers and pivot screws to finish it up.

How does the seat back molding slide into the tabs? I cannot figure that out...
Old seat recovered by my father in law many years ago.
