What does title say? I betcha it's an R. If so, in this case R stands for run. This car was most likely totalled, resold for 2k with a salvage cert, and cleaned up enough to clear salvage.

He stated the title is clear as North Carolina doesn't require the damage to be noted. They do require it to be listed in the bill of sale.

The heat that will come in that hole will make driving the car pretty much unbearable except in cold weather,

Not all sellers are lying con men some do believe what they tell buyers but sincerity isnt fact, a person can be sincere but wrong look how the guy sells me a rusty core transmission but he thinks its ready to go, and tells me go get opinions so in his mind hes correct.

On a car like this even a little thing like wrong emblem raises the red flag what else is the seller mistaken about,

Fact is 9500 is pretty much top dollar so unless you are in love with this specific car you can do better.

I think you will be chasing gremlins endlessly. Heck You chase gremlins with any old Vette as it is and add fire to the element, yikes way to many potential issues.

It's a $1500 project car, in my book.

All you need do is a forum search over in the sales section for similar vehicle(past sales).....you will quickly discover that your budget can buy a whole lot more car than this burned out pos. You will just have to wait for it.....post up a Wanted thread and it may come to you sooner than later. Ya never know....

True, it's a NOM, which will usually lower the market value of the car. Good information to know. So far as not being an L82 anymore, I didn't see enough info from the poster to make this statement. An L82 or any other option is defined in the AIM as a specific set of components. There is no indication of specific serial numbers being part of the package. The NCRS got this right, very little difference in points awarded or deducted depending on whether the stamp pad has the correct serial number. They remove personal opinion or agenda from the equation. The later years which have the engine code embedded in the serial number provides further proof of whether the car was configured originally as it is being presented today. A NOM L82 with correct components receives as much respect as an original so far as the NCRS is concerned, possible to achieve top flight along with originals.

A seller cannot truthfully say it's an 'original' L82, that went out with the loss of the original engine. The car will likely trade at lower values than originals. Something to be aware of when evaluating...
