We have to pay a 5% (of the cars value) import duty. Do the French gov have a similar levy ?
Yes duties are almost the same on Collector vehicles it's 5.5% based on the price of the car + shipment + inssurance.
If it's a non collector car it's 20%.
Ship name in flames is "Grande America" an Italian vessel, wrecked not far from French coast, actually there are contener's cars inside. Fortunately "mine" is today in the Gulf of Mexico and has to stop at Altamira (MX) then get back north to Houston (TX) port then he will hopefully cross the atlantic to accost in Le Havre around the 05 of April. Name of the boat carrying my car is "Tanja Rickmers" trackable at marinetraffic.com
My 70. Finally got it mostly sorted out and drove for the first time on Sunday. What a fun engine! This car drives so much better than my old 69 big block
Nice color combo... I love the bright blue interior available only on the 70- LT1.

We are almost as excited as you are in waiting for your LT-1. We hope all goes well with the trip. You will have ton commemorate the arrival with a picture of you and the LT-1, and share with us. I’ve got such a picture with my ‘67 the day I bought it in 1986. And despite hundreds of pictures since that picture remains my favorite.
That's a very good idea indeed ! I'm sure that moment is memorable and to picture it will make it last.
If I'm not too excited to forget that advice, be sure it's an idea I'll follow.
I've received as an appetizer, the 6th edition of the the NCRS Judging book. That's a great book, to understand all minors and subtile differences between models.
It helps to be patient.

6th edition ? Blimey, I bought my 5th edition only last year. I'll live with that as for what it is, it's quite expensive. Useful, but pricey..
Thanks! Do you also find your car to be a hard start after stopping for gas?
After shutting off the engine look down the primary and secondary bores of the carburetor to see if gasoline is dripping. If you see gasoline try adjusting the float levels.
Thanks!! There does not seem to be any fuel dripping from the primary or secondaries, I pulled the inspection plugs from both fuel bowls and they seem to be at the right level. Maybe I am just hot stating it in correctly.....
@Dirty Dalton I replied to your last post, but looks like did not post it proprerly. So you made me laught!! No I'm not sleepling. Just still waiting for the boat ! I should get my car on the 9 or the 10th of April and drive it back home.
Believe this waiting period is awful. I've signed the BOF on the18th of Feb !! Amazing.
By the way what is the coolant you're using ? I know there are different type of it.

I recently had a problem with the fuel boiling in the carb, the car didn't appear (by the gauge) to be running hot, however after inspection I realized the CLUTCH FAN was not operational... I sent the shwiezer clutch to KirkConnell Corvettes and they rebuilt it and returned in 2 weeks - $265 delivered back to me... IT IS LIKE A TORNADO it moves so much air now, no more fuel boiling issues after driving it for 40 minutes in the last day...
