What do you think happens to that if you were to get into an accident. Think that would become a nice projectile.

I just use a good, heavy duty 3M Velcro to hold it in place.
Looks kinda cool too

You used velcro to hold it in place. If you ever got into and accident that would slam into someones head. They need to be mounted low. In front of the seats is a good place. Like some here have.

Yeah, I can certainly see how this could happen. I bought new trailing arm assemblies, complete with new e-brake parts from Van Steel. The e-brake still barely keeps the car from rolling on even a very slight slope. I don't know what else can be done to make it better.

Thanks for the pics!

All a matter of opinion I suppose.
I think, in a head on collision, the last place one might consider accessible is "low in front of the seats" when the seats are jammed into the dash with the occupants legs crushed in that exact area.
There is no definitive place to mount an extinguisher. All are prone to accessibility or additional injury issues. If my extinguisher did break loose and become airborne in a head on collision, I'd expect it would continue forward through the windshield rather than backwards into the passenger compartment.
Hopefully none of us will ever have to find out.

It's your head. I would rather get hit in the legs with one than across the head. Or your passengers head. What if you get hit in the side. Plus you have it attached with velcro. Think about that for a minute. It's your car you do what you want with it. Mine is in the compartment behind the passenger seat. If I need to get to it I can. If not that is what I have insurance for.

I think you missed the spirit of this thread.
The OP asked for options to install extinguishers.
I have the same year/model as he does. I gave him my option.
I don't see where he asked anyone to moderate the options offered.

I wasn't moderating, just pointing out a dangerous situation.

Mine has a big piece of Velcro on it and it sticks to the carpet anywhere
mostly in the middle behind the seats, doesn’t bother anyone.

Brother, what's up? Are you having a bad day? Too much coffee this morning? What?
Why are you so obsessed with where I put my extinguisher in my own car?
If you really feel it's that dangerous, why don't you buy my car and then you can remove the fire extinguisher.

Ok kids, this is my post. This is not a post about being a liberal or a conservative. So please be respectful of other people's opinions.

BTW, thanks to all who offered their advice and pics!

Not having a bad day at all. The placement of a fire extinguisher or anything else in the interior in the car is a serious thing. And in an accident can become a projectile. The reason I am trying to make a point is a friend of mine had one mounted on his roll bar, he got hit and the girl sitting next to him got hit in the head with it and she had a lot of problems after that. She lost the sight in her left eye and was a mess for awhile.

I am looking at mounting a extinguisher in my car
I have been around the aftermath of enough crashes, especially roll overs,
where anything and everything not bolted down comes loose and flies around
the cockpit like the inside of a washing machine. It is shocking
That is why everything, including people, get ejected out any open windows.
It is hard for me to imagine velcro holding anything on in a crash situation,
but I could be wrong

I did some poking around on the internet. A high speed collision for a car with no crumple zones like ours can have as much as 100 G's of deceleration. So a 1# fire extinguisher will instantaneously weigh as much as 100#'s, and that weight is pointed forwards. Won't matter too much since the steering column will kill you anyway.

The big deal I think is getting to a fire extinguisher quickly for other emergencies. The best place is probably in front of the driver. I don't have it there because I have a five point harness. Mine is instead in front of the passenger seat. Not ideal but not too bad because my wife pretty much refuses to ride in my car. I have some quick release straps on the extinguisher and usually no passenger

Get one of these suits and ditch the extinguisher.

These cars don't only get hit in the front. What happens if you get hit in the side or rear ended. You don't know where it will go. I know someone that was hit with one in an accident.
