jv04, I posted it on NCRS site earlier today. That car has “sold” a few times, yet same seller lists it. I contacted the seller with the details on it being BS. Initially it was claimed to be a 100% legit ZR1. Hard to be even a LT-1 when it has L46 tach, and I know the history. The stamp being full depth, even after the block was decked (with rotary tooling), wrong font, not lined up, etc.

Its a car you can have fun with and it’s quick. Likely still has the 4.11 gears. Just annoys when trying to knowingly deceive people.

Is the vin listed on the NCRS forum? I did a google search of the vin, and nothing except 'for sale' links popped up. Vin 194670S411715 (so hopefully this thread pops up if any prospective buyers do a search)...

If you are going to lie about it, you might as well go big.

Oh yeah, the famous person who made that quote .... Adolf Hitler

I guess for the guys that like original it would be a concern, but like my self "who cares" I don't waste my time with old stuff I just replace with newer LS3 etc and keep the general body style. (restomod)

I just don't get why people pay EXTRA for original. Its against the natural order of nature "everything evolves or decays" why fight mother nature by holding on to the past. ?

But its nice to see we have all corners covered and many view points & freedom to choose our own path. Its good people share and educate us if this is our view point. I would have been in the taken group without more research or posts like this Thanks.....

Depends on how you like to enjoy your cars. To some folks the car is as much a work of art as a vehicle, and so they want to preserve it as much as possible in its original form. To folks like you (and me), a car like this is for taking out and driving, and so you want modern reliability and performance along with the cool vintage looks. Different strokes for different folks.

The guy I bought my C5 from drove it less than a thousand miles a year. The car is beautiful - a wide body kit, lowered, C6 Z06 wheels, great stereo, and some killer engine mods. His garage floor was epoxied, and he even had a little bistro table with two chairs along one wall, I guess so he could drink his coffee in the mornings and appreciate how good he'd made the car look. Me, I've put 10,000 miles a year on the car. Yes, the paint's showing some wear, but dang, I sure enjoy driving it!

If I were trying to counterfeit a car like this I'd do my homework and do it where nobody would know. I'd do research on where and how the numbers should look etc. Numbers matching Corvette guys are too smart and know their **** better than most vintage car owners and it's hard to pull the wool over their eyes.
If you're going to counterfeit it do it right.

You should be driving an "evolved" C7 or C8 then. Compared to them, your C3 has the aerodynamics of a brick.

I know what you mean my C6 Grandsport is much better than my c3 (78) , C7 Vette's are great cars. I have spent a lot of time with C6 / C7's at Spring Mountain. Driven the C6 Grandsport / Z06 /ZR1 , C7 Z51 & Z06 all great cars to drive at the Track. My C3 I use at the local road course.

This is what I like the corvette's for.

Hitler discusses the "Big Lie technique" ("that in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility") in Mein Kampf (1925). Goebbels wrote something similar ("when one lies, one should lie big, and stick to it") in Die Zeit ohne Beispiel in early 1941.
