Default Shock Mount

Will torque pull the serrated part into the bearing support or do I need a BFH?

Thanks - Jim

I used a big C-clamp just over the shock mount so I didn't spread the ears on the rear bearing support, then applied a little heat- not enough to make anything red, but way more than I wanted to hold on to. I put the castle nut on backwards before I heated it and then smacked it with a 3 lb brass hammer. Turned out it was stuck in the sleeve in the strut bushing and took a lot more effort. I was more concerned about killing the bearing support than the shock mount. Those are cheap compared to bearing supports.

Thanks Tim
By your description it seems that you are removing the shock mount. Maybe I'm confused. I'm trying to install the shock mount.

Thanks - Jim

It should go in fairly easily with little anti-seize. If not, I'd say there's something wrong.

My '68 shock mount has a notch that must be aligned with the flat area inside the ARMS for the mount to go all the way in place. You may has to use sandpaper on the shock mount stud and inside the ARMS holes along with antiseize the other member mention. Then the mount stud should fit fully in place by using the nut and flat washers to draw it into place.

Not sure what could be wrong, the shock mounts have gone thru and the castle nuts are on. It looks like half of the serration has been pulled through.
Thanks
