I would make it. You wold need to use some solid material for top and along opening but then layers of fiberglass cloth and then short strand fiberglass. Finish off with steel putty and sand and paint. Cheapest way. Maybe ebay or someone has a used one?
Hello DUB not exactly sure what a "splash mold" is but I kinda got your point. Still hoping to get a used scrape piece to work with before I give in to fabricating a new piece.
Using the other side of your valance panel that is still intact. You apply masking tape on that spot to protect the paint. Wax the tape. Apply mat and resin enough to allow it to hold its shape and remove it and.... VOILA...you have a 'splash mold'
It will be good enough for you to wax up and then laminate it up and pull that part of your 'splash mold' and at least you would have a part that is very close to being able to install where you need it.
The term comes from pulling a mold off a boat hull. Then copying the boat by building a new one or whole line of boats with that mold. It is a splash of the original.
