Need some advice ... My tilt-wheel steering column in my 1970 works fine, but it's "loosy-goosy" and feels terrible when you hit a bump. Should I have my shop rebuild the original, or get something like an aftermarket "I Did It" steering column? If a rebuild, what's needed for parts and where can you buy them? Thanks!
Many times there are 4 bolts holding some housings together, buried down under/behind the turn signal switch, and that means pull it ALL apart, a super PIA......
My column in my '72 came from a late shark, smaller wheel, and dimmer on T/S lever....I was told it went through a collision when I bought it, there is some looseness in the column that is NOT due to the 4 bolts, but it's been fine since '95, so hell with it....BUT you HAVE to know them bolts are tight, and check it all out for sure, so nothing stupid happens.....
