I've said this before, and I'll say it again here. Have this car (or any potential Vette purchase) inspected by someone qualified to evaluate a Corvette. There are many potential defects that are unique to these cars. Frame, birdcage, brake system, suspension/trailing arms, electrical, etc. just to name a few. Spend some time on this forum and you will read some devastating horror stories of cars bought that were plagued with SERIOUS problems. I'm guessing that your location probably has many options to get a sound inspection. If you can't find someone, check with a local Corvette chapter, I'm sure you could get some referrals.

As for this particular car, I would probably have a problem doing business with a seller that conceals defects, but that's just me. (Also, agreed that the price is a little high).
Have you considered shopping with private owners? This particular forum typically has a good selection of cars for sale. Good luck.

Back when I drove Triumph TR-6's my advice to wannabe's was to join the TR-6 club and buy the one the retiring officer/president/treasurer/whatever of the Club was selling because he was moving on, whatever.

A better Corvette for less $ is coming along. Be patient. And no, they are not RARE by any definition of the word.
