At dinner with wife... she was talking about connecting with her cousin via Facebook- hasn't seen her in years- who lives in Chattanooga.
I click on the forum- and see 'Chattanooga'- I just put a bug in her ear- next thing I know -she was texting/messaging with her cousin- so looks like we might go up tomorrow evening- spend the night and go by the Cruise in...and then meet up with her cousin.
I'll keep you posted-
Richard
Richard, please do let me know, we would enjoy meeting up with you guys.

I have been taking care of a few details in preparation for tomorrow’s trip to Deal’s Gap and the Dragon Tail. While tidying up some wiring near the rear bumper I observed slight movement of the bumper bracket on the left side. Inside to retrieve the AIM and try to figure out what’s going on. There is an interesting “bolt unit” that connects the bracket to the frame, along with two large bolts. The large bolts were tight but the “bolt unit” nut was loose. I tighten the nut and all is good. Learn something new everyday I suppose. “Bolt unit” is number 7 in diagram
I suppose it was near inevitable given the suspension modifications that have been documented in this project thread of my 74 Coupe that I would eventually want to upgrade the rubber on my Corvette. I have always loved the old school rally wheels but as everyone knows and has been written about many times on CF, tire choice in 15” is extremely limited. I spent countless hours researching and looking at photos here on CF and decided to purchase Torq Thrust II wheels in 17x8” with 4” back space combined with Nitto NT555 G2 tires size 255/50/17. The chosen tire size exactly duplicates the stock tire diameter of 27”, the wheel combination requires no modifications to the trailing arm and there is no fitment issue whatsoever.
After installing the wheels and tires my wife and I took the car for a nice 100 mile evening cruise. We chose a scenic drive up Lookout Mountain via Ga136 for a nice dinner at Lookout Mountain Pizza Co. for an artisan pizza and then a beautiful drive on Ga 189 the back south on Ga157.
Upon the first corner entry headed up the mountain the enhancement in the level of grip was obvious, the car adhered to the road exceptionally well with zero tire squeal. The ride is firm but smooth with the Nitto tires. Braking with the new combination seems to be enhanced as well as the cornering and ride quality. I can basically sum the report to this- what others have stated in regards to upgrading the rubber is spot on and I am very happy with the performance and certainly the looks of my Corvette with the Torque Thrust II. The choice in the size of wheel the and tire combination is just right for my personal tastes. There are many choices and combinations that work with a C3 Corvette, this combo fits well and looks great.

Great suspension thread and you documented a lot of important small details for those coming along behind you with our own C2 & C3 suspension builds. Your ‘74 is a beautiful Vette - from the bottom to the top! If your car was to, unfortunately, run over me, I think I’d recognize the bottom side and all your chassis and brake upgrades. Thank you for posting. I enjoyed reading this after finding your link on the tubular A arm thread last night. The Global West A arms are so nice. And, I ordered some DragVette items this evening due to reading your posts: HD rear diff cover and the small upgrade mounting kits for the diff and mounting bracket for our ‘64 project car. Thx. Pat
