almost ready to take the car to the painter and realize I never installed the new brake light switch. Twist myself upside down and backwards to get under the left side dash and realize that when I converted to the manual pedal assembly, I forgot to put the brackets back on, what a dope...let's set me back some more time...
I have put a date on my Route 66 trip though to keep me motivated..looking at leaving NY May 24th and returning (maybe) June 10th.
Then you need to plan on having the car DONE by mid-April. That gives you some time to work any 'bugs' our of the car for long trip reliability and prepare it for your trip. Allowing a week or two to re-install all the 'stuff' back on the exterior would give you a "drop dead" date of April 1st to get it back from paint.

Oh man...that would be so much fun. We are out here on the West Coast near Santa Monica and occasionally get to drive a bit of it in California and Arizona. So interesting and beautiful to see the country like it was 50 years ago. On the bucket list!
If you haven't traveled 66 this is a must. https://www.ebay.com/itm/ROUTE-66-EZ...UIlC:rk:3:pf:0 A lot of 66 in Missouri was either bypassed or absorbed into I-44. Some of the original road is gone and what's left of the original unmolested can be hard to find.
Good luck and if I have my Vette back on the road by then I'd be happy to show you parts that I know.
