His implication of fatalities is just plain stupid.

So, California is profiling! Isn't that against liberal values?

It's really now a big deal and 75 and older are exempt. Tint tickets went the same way a few years ago. No longer a fix it ticket.

Hah.....saved. For awhile
And yes, it is profiling.

n conclusion, if you own a car that requires a smog certificate in order to register it (1976 and newer) and you have an exhaust that is loud enough to give law enforcement a reason to pull you over, you’re getting fined! For now, this amendment won’t have any effect on pre-smog era cars (1975 and older). There is a silver-lining though. If you were cited for an illegal exhaust and you believe you weren’t in violation, there is a SEMA-sponsored noise-testing program with the Bureau of Automotive Repair that can dismiss the citation by issuing a certificate of compliance

I was watching DDE on YouTube the other day, and One of the guys was driving the Huracan and was sitting at a light, got a ticket for the exhaust. Their car is registered in Canada. Still got the ticket. The car isn’t illegal where their from, so even if you do t live in CA but drive through, you can still be ticketed for your car having an “illegal” exhaust.

Good old thing I will never step foot there.

In a few years- the wife and I are planning a route 66 trip- Guess we are stopping in Arizona!

"This bill primarily contained items pertaining to updating voting systems, and how the state compensates crime victims and veterans. However, the final item that was slipped in is one pertaining to noise generated by car exhaust."

Don't Kalifornicate Colorado. Keep your **** west of the continental divide.
Your cooperation will be appreciated.

Colorado has been adopting Ca liberalism for many yrs, sure its nowhere near as bad though. Same with Washington, Oregon etc. AZ seems to wanna keep their state the way it is.

A scam you say?

So, you don't buy their reason for the law being that many, maybe most people only want quieter cars driving past their houses?

To me, it sounds like a regulation aimed at controlling(harassing) ricer kids while generating a little extra revenue for the city. I had a local (Boss Hogg type) give me sh*t about my '65 Mustang GT fastback because the rear end was jacked up and I had dual mufflers that ended just before the rear axle. He didn't ticket me probably because he saw I wasn't disrespectful and was fairly clean cut guy for that time in space. If I'd have been otherwise, I probably would have gotten a ticket IMO! The regs are just a tool to eff with the rowdy, disrespectful crowd.

So, apart from the money the fines bring in, you don't buy that the law is there because many, maybe most people don't like noisy cars driving past their houses?

Probably all of the above. Just another tool to keep the Fast N Furious, ricer, street racer, agitating and loud exhaust group a little more under control. In other words it give the cops a regulation to eff with the smart azz little effers who rub their civil rights in the face of cops every day and know just how far they can go and go there regularly. I would not like being a cop! After a while I'd most likely be forced to leave the force or worse. The extra revenue is nice and a little more peace and quiet for the taxpayers is a good benefit!
