Been looking at adding a C3 for my wife and wanted to see if I could solicit some expert opinions on this one for sale?? I know what I am looking at in a C5 or C6 and figured this would be a good place to get some C3 education. What do you guys see?? Thanks everyone.
$25k is a fair price for a 72 Vette with new paint and working AC, if everything else works. Ask around what it costs to paint a Corvette these days. That's a good looking car. Only downside for many is the auto transmission. If the car is as advertised it wouldn't last long where I live. You might also check the rear wheel bearings as they are costly to replace and often bad.
Is she going to drive it? Make sure you find a few local to you on Craigslist, or go sit in some at a Cars and Coffee. C3s are surprisingly cozy, and you may either love it, or hate it (or have a strong preference for one interior over another).
It's not the car for me (automatic), but it does look very nice in those photos. The birdcage condition trumps all, though, and you need to see specific places under the car to know that. Is it close enough to go see it in person? You might be able to work a deal in person, or determine if the car meets your expectations.
