I'm replacing the heater core on my 78 Pace Car. When reinstalling the main outlet duct, I'm only finding one screw the replace. I know the two center consoles outlets clip into it. The effect is that driver side tube under the steering, seems an inch or so to low on the console side. Is there an attaching point on the left side of the main outlet?
I just replaced the heater core in my 79 only about a week ago, if I remember right that big center distribution duct took a little wrestling around to get it to seat properly. Initially I think I had the same problem as you, I moved it around some more and it fell into place. I just can't remember if there was a screw mount on both sides. It was such a horrible job its all kind of a bad dream to me now. I hope I never do a heater core again.
It is really a nasty job. I told one of the guys at work that on the assembly line, they drop a string with a heater core attached and build a car around it. But then again, if it was simply everyone would have a C3!!!!
I'll try to reposition and make certain it is seated correctly. Thanks again.

It does take patience. I did my 78 a few years back and did not find it that bad of a job. Remove the passenger's side seat to provide space to move around. Then pull up the carpet to avoid accidental spills of coolant.
Since I had the ductwork out, I did some troubleshooting of the A/C actuators, checking hoses, vacuum lines, etc. Check actuators with a vacuum pump to ensure they operate as intended.
