Default New 1972 purchase.

Hi all. I have been looking at c5s recently but ended up going old school and just bought a 72 coupe in Ontario Orange. Is a small block and manual. It arrives on a carrier next week. I'm not into additional horse power but this does have S/R Torquer heads , roller rockers , alloy intake with 750 Holley , Stainless steel exhaust. I'm just wondering if this is going to drive much differently than a standard small block?
I really just wanted a mint 72 and was happy with a standard engine. Are these mods good, bad or indifferent? Many thanks. Cheers Doug.
Will post pics next week.

The roller rockers are a nice asset. Won't make much hp without a cam upgrade and better breathing heads, but it will assure long life for the valve train, if the geometry was done properly. And, if it runs well, that should not be any problem. SS exhaust is also a plus, if A/F mix is decent.

It won't 'drive' differently from a stock SB engine...probably a bit smoother and quieter. Intake is OK...lighter....better looking. Holley is too much carb, unless it has vacuum secondary operation. In general, I would certainly be happy with that setup, given your intended use of the vehicle. O/Orange is a terrific color. Tan interior?

If you want to upgrade HP (I wouldn't even consider doing that, with your stated goals), heads, cam and headers will get that done. Pics would be nice, when you're ready to show off.

Thanks for the positive feedback folks. Can has only ever had 2 USA owners and 1 NZ one so has been well looked after. I'm excited/anxious about getting it next week and will let you know what it's like. More pics included 😀

Hi, my 71 is a 350 270hp automatic coupe in Bridgehampton Blue with Blue interior. It’s is excellent condition and has been restored. Motor, interior and exterior all redone as was original. Brakes, transmission, exhaust and suspension as well. I hope to have lots of quality drive time before any major repairs come up.

I payed a little more than you did but I’m very happy and can’t wait to get my Vette...! Part of the deal was new BF Goodrich TA radials all the way around. They sent me a pic of the car with the new tires on it. Here is a pic with the new tires and a couple others they sent me...

I’m in Valencia, Spain... My Vette still hasn’t left the dealership I bought it from yet but I hope it gets picked up tomorrow. If not the beginning of next week. It will travel by truck to Houston, Texas where it will be placed in a shared container for the journey to Valencia... Valencia has a large port and I’m only 10 minutes away.

How long before fore you get your car? I don’t expect mine for a month or so...
