Has anyone ever added an aftermarket cruise control kit to their C3? I have a 79 that never had the cruise option, I figured after I put in a tremec 5 speed and maybe cruise control it would make a good short road trip car. I’m just wondering how well they work and the level of difficulty the installation is.

I put one in last year on my 68. It cam from Dakota Digital. I used their converter to match the Tremec output to the cruise controller. Pretty straight forward and it works great.

I put in an electronic AudioVox cruise unit 7-8 years ago. Rostra bought them out and now sells under that name. Great unit. Best place for install of the control head is on the sheet metal rock shield (lower firewall, driver side). Easy to mount there and good place to route needed wiring. Well hidden and no problems since installation. The overdrive auto install and the cruise unit install were the two best additions to the car. Eventually, I installed a turn signal/cruise switch stalk on the column, rather than use the provided switch plate.

does it look out of place in a '71, any chance of a photo showing how it looks?

Looks just like the turn signal stalks on the first years of Corvette cruise option. Don't have a shot of it at the moment.
