Default Alternative front grills for a 71/72

As can be seen in the picture the front grills on my car are in poor condition. I can't justify the cost of a replacement and would like to fit something different like on this restomod, are those from a later c3? What will bolt on in place of the originals without much modification?

Seems you really haven't gotten started yet ... and already, you won't spring for the cost of grilles.
JMO ... perhaps this is the wrong project. Then again, might become a real show-stopper.
Good luck to the both of you.

Grilles and parking lights are 68-69. I've no idea what the owner is using behind the grilles.

Makes no sense to spend hundreds on a die cast grill which is easily broken and not easily replaced. Later C3 parts can be found relatively easy in the UK and I prefer the slanted grill to the egg crate 71/72 type. Originality means nothing to me on this project. I've found some 73 grills for a very good price, will they bolt in or are the mountings different?

do you know if the 68/69 grills use the same mountings as the 71?

If you're in the UK Dazza then I have a pair of 71's that I just replaced that are complete, not broken and in fair shape with just light pitting on the chrome. They'll sit on a shelf for ever so I'd do you a good deal. I don't have a spare centre grille but I did see one for sale in the UK yesterday for I think £40

Let me know if you're interested.

Here’s what I did with mine. I bought the L shaped grill mouldings and then got some black steel mesh and had custom grills made. Also made a matching piece for the centre.

I do have a set of 71 grills for sale in the classifieds as well.

There are lots of aftermarket polished aluminum horizontal bar truck grilles on Ebay. 50-60 bucks gets you enough to make 2 sets.

There are some small sheet metal brackets that hold in the 68/69 grills. Try a Corvette salvage yard if you need them. The plastic 68/69 grills are much cheaper to buy than the 70 and up cast aluminum alloy grills.
