Does anyone know how to install the original trim rings without damaging the clips? Is there a trick to it? I had mine redone with new clips and in the meantime, I installed some cheapo trim rings that have the built in clip ring around the whole rim. After spending all of the money getting mine redone, I am kind of afraid I will break clips (clumsily) trying to reinstall them.
The 'original' clips are part of the trim ring. You just pop them in place with the palm of your hand, after aligning the valve stem with the hole in the trim ring. Removing them, without damaging the sheet metal, is a real "trick", though.
Yeah, I know they are part of the trim ring, but I had some broken clips on the my original trim rings. So I sent them to a guy who I found in the NCRS magazine who replaces the broken clips, while removing any dents from trim rings. He also polishes the stainless steel. He does not re-chrome them but the polished stainless looks very nice and at least they are the original trim rings.
I could never keep the original trim rings on under hard cornering and I got tired of stopping to pick it up when it flew off. I bought aftermarket SS trim rings and they've never come off. They don't look original so if you're into that sort of thing they are not for you.

That is what is on my car now and they look great, but I am considering having my car judged so I may have to take them off while I do that.
