hey guys, i have my under dash wiper stop switch off and cleaning it up for a final install. well it was not turning freely so i opened it up and cleaned it out... it moves great now, but i need too make sure i have it back together properly. has anyone had one of these apart and documented it? the 68 switch only has one wire, how does it interrupt the power? what happens when the switch is turned does it kill power too the blue wires too stop the motor dead for wiper blade removal? fill me in here guys! thanks troy

it just disconnects a ground that interupts the wiper motor. So any toggle switch would work. BUT if you leave it in the open position, meaning it is disconnected from ground, even though the wipers arent moving, the motor is still energized so it will kill the battery. To insure I dont leave it on I painted a tiny white stripe on the **** in the closed position so if it moves I can look down and see that it did. It only takes a little movement to disconnect so that the wipers wont work. I bumped a month or so ago and couldnt figure out what was going on. I strated tracing power when I remembered the switch. Good thing cause I was ready to bench test the motor.
I may just replace it with a toggle so its easier to see. Im not to interested in keeping that original

thank you roger! now i can test it...one other problem i had was, the dash harness was a little beat up. and i did not know for sure what wire went to it.. now it makes sense the black wire there had its end frayed and the clip was hanging..i should be good now. thanks again.....troy
