Default '72 w/454 questions

I'm considering purchasing a 1972 convertible 454, manual transmission. Never owned a corvette but have been looking for 68-72 convertible I could afford for a long time. Are there any common issues I should be aware of, pre-purchase? It runs great, sounds like a beast. No leaks, although the top needs to be replaced so not sure if it will seal. But don't plan on using it the top often. The body is mostly clean, a few scratches. The paint is original, far from perfect.

This will be a weekend driver. Appreciate any input on things I should investigate before pulling the trigger.

Have a look here, the original list shows as a quote at post 133 or so
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...orvette-7.html

I'll also add that the big block adds a few oddities such as limited options for intakes / carbs and a lot of the brackets are different than the small blocks and are therefor not as easy to come by sometimes

1. As mentioned check for rust.
2. Big block motors tend to run hot, be sure to do a long test drive [30 min plus]
3. Paint work is very expensive to have done proper [$10K+] If you are not happy with the original paint, move on.

Good luck!
