Default C7 for a nice C3

Call me Crazy! I just sold my 2015 C7 yesterday and now looking to get a nice 68-71. I know what I’m getting into as I’ve had 2 C3’s before. My thinking is that I didn’t drive the C7 much because I always worried about it. ( I know it’s just a car ). And buying a new corvette which I did, it really depreciated fast. It is not my daily driver. My thinking is if I just use the car for Car shows and cruising I might as well buy an early C3 that that will hold its value for the most part. So i am in the hunt right now for a nice 68-71.

Good luck on your search. I know how you feel. I have both a '15 C7 and a '70 C3. The C7 has A/C, P/S and everything else the low optioned '70 BB does not have and has even been built to about 1000 HP.... BUT.. Neither of them are my daily and even in the heat of Texas I cant remember the last time I took the C7 out as opposed to the C3. No comparison in my mind about which is the most fun to cruise.

That is a very important aspect of C3 ownership. While everyone is worrying about the value of their "investment" going UP, you have wisely recognized that the ownership of other similar vehicles is worried about their car's value going DOWN. Having a cool car that is fun and reliable (after doing the things needed to bring the car up-to-snuff)... and WILL NOT LOSE SIGNIFICANT MONEY in the future....is a real asset.

I agree with your thinking. Here's were I ended up. 1968 full nut and bolt restoration. L79 dyno'd just under 400hp. Corvette Bronze with Dark Orange interior. Should be a fun car

Is your thread to advertise looking for one? Coupe? Convertible? Colors? Price range? Options?

I'll be just the opposite here. As many know here I have been a long time C3 owner. I have had countless engines, transmissions, rear gears and many different suspension systems over the years of ownership. Spent a ton of money on it. That being said I was always afraid to drive it and park it for fear of it getting damaged stolen or whatever. I'm not into car shows or caring what people think of me driving a "cool" car. I even built a replica Cobra for all that. I just recently bought an 07 Z06 with a few mods. This Z does everything the C3 or Cobra does only way better and in comfort. I can drive it anywhere, park it anywhere and just use it. It looks great from 5 feet but there are some blemishes on it. Great! I won't be the first one to do that. Sitting in the car I don't see the Coolness of the C3 I only feel the performance of the Z. I understand your situation and if you are just cruising around town and going to a few shows the C3 is probably a better car for you. For me the C3 and the Cobra are fun for about a half hour. Then I like the comfort of the newer ones. My wife and I are planning on some trips in the near future that require some hours of driving. The Z will be the car of choice. Honestly if someone came along with the $$$ the C3 and or the Cobra would be history. So it comes down to a personal choice. Maybe I'm just getting older and appreciate comfort more. Not worried about the value of the car. I bought it to enjoy and drive the wee out of it. JMO.

Group E here. I want my 71 LS6 to be absolutely correct as it left the factory. I am uninterested in trophies and the adulation of others at car shows. I just care that I have it as accurate as can be for my sake.
