Found a few rusty areas under the door weather stripping. Nine completely through. Also smoothed out the
seam for the skin just a bit. I’ll POR15 the rust then prime then paint. 100 years from now this door should still work now right? As long as it stays in the garage, lol.
Left door came off today. I love my gantry crane. Made a sling and eased it off by myself.
Hinges window rails and bolts went into the vinegar. This door had more rust. Only one bad spot. I cut it out and will weld in a patch. I remain in the rabbit hole...
anyone know what gauge the doors are?

cant help with the steel gauge , but you have a nice set -up there , I have the exact same gantry here , so handy for body off doings ! fits so nice over my 4 poster hoist too .
I took vacation days today and tomorrow to try to get the doors and jams painted. Don’t think I’m gonna make it. Probably will prime tomorrow but will need to sand and prime
again to fill in scratches.
I did fix a top corner accident I had 10 years ago. Won’t be perfect and I’ll just spray the spot to avoid a discolored door. I also welded in the rust patch. My welding is fair at best but like a lot of people (not on this forum of course) I’m awesome with a grinder.
Doors turned out near perfect. The jams need color sanded. I forgot to use seam sealer. Might do that tomorrow and do a final base clear since I’ll likely need a couple spots touched up after sanding. The edges had done chips that I tried to catch with the tape job. With a bit of work Zi should be able to fix those as well.
How critical is the seam sealer?
color is a shade off which I expected but it’s just the jams. Much improved over how it was. The hinges hadn’t been removed it appeared. I’ll start reassembling the doors soon but I’m still waiting on the windows.
