I just got the latest issue of Vintage Motorsport magazine, and there is a nice little article in it called "A Shelby Quartet". It's based on quotes from Carroll Shelby on four people who meant a lot to him, F1 great Masten Gregory, racer and owner/builder of Scarab cars, Lance Reventlow, Donald Healey of Austin-Healey fame, and Zora Arkus-Dontov. His insights into Duntov and the others, are quite interesting, and worth reading if your a fan of Shelby, Duntov or racers in general.
Finally got my hands on a copy of the book Zora. Thanks Mike. Tons of good info for anyone looking to learn about Zora's role at Chevrolet. Chapter 20 has a picture of Zora on the track in a prototype L-88. Thought I would share. Pic is from 67.
I know....right. Him and Rod Serling. Rarely seen if ever, without a smoke. Book say's Zora was not a fan of the Big block cars. He felt the extra weight on the front made the car unbalanced.
As I've said before...I spent a WEEK with Zora and McClellan. Zora was on my left and David was on my right....every day. Zora was forced into Big-blocks by the market.
He told me to my face " I hate big-blocks, they handle like a rock at the end of a string" He got sick trying to cool them down.
