The 5th edition NCRS Guide shows the jacking decal above the posi decal but also says there is no precise arrangement for these decals. The posi decal have also been seen on non posi cars.

I appreciate you looking that up - thank you. Not sure what I will do with mine...probably leave it. I doubt if I could peel the jacking instructions off the door without tearing it. Other option would be to buy a new door and new decals and put them in the locations you mentioned and just store the old lid??? Well, another project to work on some day. Maybe!

Scott - looks like you have the decals in the right place with the jacking instructions above the posi traction decal on your passenger compartment door.

Thanks Lord Melbury

Wow, all the postings on this matter are making me wonder what would my car be considered early production or late production, -- it has a rough build date of late February 1969 according to the black book and serial number . That makes me wonder if I could go with the metal compartment pulls located right on the push button mechanism or stick with the loops which are on there now just on the wrong side . The compartment doors are not original to the car but have been replaced sometime in the past. Anyone have any suggestions?

How can the loops be on the wrong side?
Can you post a picture?

That was the reason for my initial post on this topic. For some reason the loops are all located to the right of the push button mechanism and the securing nut gets in the way of me putting the jacking instructions decal there if placed above the positraction decal. I do not know if this was done by whomever installed the replacement interior or what? The compartment doors are probably new replacements as there are no decals on the underside now and they do not look original to the car and the place I acquired the car from said the interior was redone. I suppose I could do what the earlier poster said and just move the loop to the left side of push button by redrilling a new hole and sealing current right side hole with putty and staining black to hide it. I am not that computer savy so I can not post photo to show you which would obviously make it much clearer. my car was built in late February 1969. Is it considered early or late production? The production number is in the 17000 range.

Hi Scott - I have the older third addition of the NCRS 1968-1969 Corvette Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide. You should buy the new version if you do not already have it, filled with lots of great information and details. In my older NCRS Judging Guide book it say's, "In 1968 and part of 1969, the lids were spring loaded and were designed to open when the chrome push-button was pressed. Quite often they did not work properly. Vinyl trim-colored pull straps were added in mid-1969 and should be present on all cars after SN 13,098. They may appear on earlier cars because a factory technical bulletin instructed dealers to add them if customers complained of difficulty opening the compartments." My older Judging Guide book does not specify whether the pull strap is located on the left or the right of the push button.

Hope that helps.

Kevin,
Thank you. It helps a lot. Where can I get the latest copy of the NCRS tech and judging guide book? Do you know if you can purchase just the compartment lids with the correct color already on them (for me it is red), or do you have to purchase the complete frame and other components for the 3 rear compartments?

Hi Scott,

Yes, you can buy them already painted and ready to install, including red.

Link to Corvette Central for you for the doors and surround trim piece in red: https://www.corvettecentral.com/c3-6...t-80-20-483500 Corvette Central, Corvette America, Zip, Ecklers are just a few of the sites I frequent to find parts and accessories. I think with enough money you could actually build an entire Corvette from parts catalogs.

NCRS has the technical manuals and judging guide books: Here is a link to NCRS https://www.ncrs.org/shop/index.php?...roducts_id=217

Corvette Central also has the latest 68-69 Technical Manual & Judging Guide book: https://www.corvettecentral.com/acce...tion-nd-113064

BTW - the interior on our 1969 is also RED, love RED!
