That's a 'spacer' on top of the lift arm.
I could be wrong, but the ground wire from the battery is RED (usually indicates positive voltage in DC circuits) and looks to be smaller in size than the stock ground cable. Since ALL power used in the vehicle flows thru that ONE wire, you might check it out and put in a proper replacement, if needed. (make it BLACK, if you swap it out)

Badly rusted out seat belt mounts , lots of wasp nests under there , handbrake cable looks stretched beyond use.

There is a piece of wood in the bottom of the battery box. It looks to me like it has an automatic transmission in a welded four speed crossmember frame! That would be rouge to work on the transmission.
