Hello to all. My 69 is in hibernation for a couple more months so I'm looking at some jobs that are perhaps easy to do and inexpensive. One is the power window conduit replacement. The rubber tube with the wires running thru it to the power window motor. Both of mine have ripped apart at the door end exposing the wires. My question is. Can I disconnect the wiring at the motor end and fish that end back out the conduit hole on the door end or do I have to disconnect at the switch end? I would prefer to work from motor end but I wonder if the connection that connects to the motor at that end will fit thru the opening on the door. Thanks for any advice and help.
Yes, you can disconnect the wires from the motor and fish them... but it's way easier if you un-pin the wires from the connector instead of trying to fish it through. Run a rigid wire inside to tie them to and then just pull them out. To un-pin the wires from the connector all you'll need is a very small flat screw driver and insert it from the forward section to release the retaining clip in the terminal. The picture below will show you.

Not only should follow Ernie's advice (above), but [IMO] you should also replace the wiring which has been flexing in that location for decades!! More often than not, those wires fail internally before the boots shred. Since your problem is the boots, make sure the wiring is good, too.
While you have the door panel off, I would grease all the rollers and tracks. I just did this and it makes a world of difference. The old grease was hard and sticky.
White lithium grease from a tube (no puny spray stuff!). This is what you use on metal-to-metal slow moving/sliding parts lubrication. Works with plastic, metal, etc.
