Default 73 battery

Hi! Wondering on the 73 side post battery, which way is it supposed to face? (Terminals to the front of the car, or terminals to the rear of the car)
does anyone use the battery with the vent hoses? Or just a regular one?

Length of the cable ends in the battery box might determine which way it sits.

The terminals originally faced the rear of the car. The only way to use the vent hoses would be to purchase a new Restoration Style Battery (very costly $$$$). You need the original Delco Split Ring Vent Caps. Today's maintenance free batteries are fine to use.
Here's a photo of the Split ring vent caps= that were originally found on the 73 Delco Energizer Batteries.

No need to vent the battery gases if its a "sealed unit" which most are today.

Maybe its just me, but I prefer NOT having explosive gases just inches from my ***. Get a sealed AGM batt.
