I cannot seem to find this answer. I have a 1973 , Blue green 454, 4 sp. May be hard to narrow down but does anyone have a source to figure out how many of my color and a 454 , 4 sp were produced? I rarely see any 73 big block 4 sp cars out there for sale, but many automatics. There are numbers for 454- LS 4 and 4sp - M21 don't know of any for blue green 945 code .
Any help out there?
Not from GM. Unfortunately the paint data for 73 in not available. That said, they did not keep records of option combinations so there is no way of knowing how many 454 M21 cars there were.
Thanks Was on corvsport and have my black book. Looks like I'll never know. Both M21 and 454 are low production, the combination along with paint will drop it lower probably below 2,000. Don't really care been my baby for 34 years and counting
I like your math Barry. think the color is the kicker. 3,704 M21 most were probably LS4 . Go for the performance engine you go for the M21 I figure. So say 2k are 454 / 4sp but I have only seen 4 cars my color in 34 years of shows. I do live in NY, not Fla. or Calif. but I still like your math. Thanks
In 72 about 6% if the cars were 945 Bryar Blue (more blue than green) so you could probably use that number for fun.
Now you're down to 32 cars.
A word of caution here. These kinds of calculations assume that each option is independent of all the others, but that is rarely the case. For example, the likelihood that a high-output big block will be paired with a 4-speed will be higher than that of all Corvettes in general. So sure, use the number for fun, but at the end of the day it is nothing more than a guess.
Yes just for fun. I figure about 2k+- LS4/M21. the color is the kicker, I have only seen 4 in my 34 years of shows only one a 454 and was a 4sp also. but just saw in a parking lot so who knows how original. Color may drop it way down. I would guess not too popular in that era.( white, red, yellow, orange, blue) Mechanical option combinations I think carry weight when considering rarity. Color just a personal preference and rare combinations are usually ugly. Took me 28 years to get my hands on it and had it for 34 so far not concerned with rarity, Would still like to know. Since no color production #s I'm out of luck. Thanks guys for the input. CC
Hey Charlie I'm good with 1,200 LS4/M21's The question is? how many still alive, original and did not turn into modified abortions. Something about 454's brings out the wrench in people.
Yea I did see that somewhere and it makes sense. I see you have your paint code production # what is it about 73 a year later that no one seems to have this info.? Good news for me, and I think it is true b/c I rarely if ever see any, that these BB 4sp guys modified /raced/ wrecked a lot of them.
I just purchased a 1973 Corvette with Miglia red exterior and dark red interior. It is a 4 speed with the 454 option. Everything is original. Is there a way to determined the exterior to the interior percentage? I was told it was rare one of 57 but I don’t know where to go to look to verify that

Yes I have been trying for years to find out how 454 -4sp 73s much less in my 945 Blue/Green. Would love to know b/c I see a lot of Auto 454s out there. In the grand scheme of things don't think it really matters except the Black COPOs out there are $$$$ regardless of drivetrain
