I think that paint erosion is due to excessive turbulence experienced as one approaches the speed of sound..... Either that, or he's hiding a flux capacitor in the car.

Exactly! Paint peeling happened enough on small private jets back in the late '70s...the spoiler in the pic reminded me of working on aircraft.
