Default 1968 Corvette

Hello,
New fo this forum and needing help. My wife’s dad owned a 68 Corvette back in 1999 bought in Fond Du Lac, WI. He owned it till 2005 when he passed. I’m looking to find it and give to her for her 50th bday in Feb of 2021. Not having a lot of luck tracking where it is. It was sold to a member of the Corvette clubs of Omaha. Any help tracking where it is and finding the owner would be greatly appreciated. The VIN # is 194678S421324. Thanks in advance for any help.

Wes

good to have the vin that helps.. you can do a title or vin search online, you gotta pay for the good search... i found my dads vette he bought in the early 80s and he sold in the early 90s. i am planning my move to try to see it and hopefully buy it. you might want to contact the corvette club and start asking some of the guys have any info on it.

Default 68 vette

I tried several sites for the VIN but all say invalid #. Tried emailing the club in Omaha and no response. Hoped something might come from this.

Try Facebook. There is an active group for 68 Corvette owners. This may give you a wider net to cast. Good luck on your search. Jerry

You might try a title search through the Nebraska DMV.

I will try all of those. I guess was just hoping the owner would pop on here somehow. Maybe he will. Thanks

Have you checked the C3 registry?

https://www.c3registry.com/index.php?job=ShowRegistry

The reason you are receiving "invalid VIN" is because modern cars have 17 digits, these cars do not.

Just buy here a nice '68 if you cant find it!

Yes I knew about the vin length. Anything before 1980 is 13 digits. After is 17. I’ll look at the registry you sent. Someone on this forum listed all the vins that were still alive in 1968 Vettes. My vin I’m looking for is on that list so I know it’s alive. Just need a lead on where it is.

Thanks, Wes

Hello. Car was for sale a few years ago, though I do not know where it went. I have it as a silver/std interior 327/300 horse Automatic car. My notes say it was dirty and had come out of storage but was all there.

International Blue,

This great news! Is there any way you could track down the owner? This car has great sentimental value. If I had been married to her at the time it would have never been sold. Any possible help would be appreciated. Any members friends with someone at the dmv of Nebraska or police dept. Let me know if at all possible. Your the only lead I have so far.

Thank you, Wes. 515-210-3382
