Default Interior

Hello,

I’m looking to completely replace everything in my 69 corvette interior with the exception of my seats which were fairly new. Does anyone have any recommendations of where to purchase a new interior and a great shop to have the work done in the tri state area closer to NY

My advice: Repair, recolor and re-use ANY & ALL interior pieces you can, as the aftermarket replacements are expensive and do not fit as well as the original pieces. You can also buy used pieces in good condition which will fit perfectly and only need to be cleaned and recolored.

Otherwise, pick a supplier: most of the vendors buy these parts from one source.

What he said! Maybe with an exception for some quality seat covers and carpet.

Certainly the carpet! Seat covers if they are significantly damaged. Otherwise, they can be removed and repaired by a good upholstery shop and recolored. I still have the original Comfort-Weave seat covers in my '71 coupe (after I refurbished the disintegrated scrim-foam in the padded channels). They still look nearly new.

I agree that original parts that can be restored or redyed are far better than a lot of the repro parts out there, particularly the dash.

Ive had bad luck with dye on seats and wouldn’t put it on something I planned on sitting on, especially while Al Knoch is still in business. Nothing like new seat covers. Putting Knoch leather seat covers in my ‘69 was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

As well, replacing carpet is another good choice, often much better than you think.

Gillians Custom Design in Middletown NY for your work. Top notch look at my build photos and the photos don't do it justice.
